Queue Unveils Robotic Pharmacy Kiosk That Fills Prescriptions in 30 Seconds

Queue, a Newark, California-based automation company, has announced a robotic pharmacy kiosk it says can fill a prescription in about 30 seconds while accommodating up to 340 medications, pushing unattended dispensing deeper into regulated healthcare settings. The system is designed for pharmacies, urgent care centers and outpatient clinics. It fills, checks and labels prescriptions while its software handles insurance processing and payment, and patients retrieve their medications using a pickup code. The kiosk uses machine vision to verify each pill and maintains tracking records from the original medication bottle to the patient's vial, according to the company. Installation takes less than a day, and pharmacists remain reachable by phone or text. Queue said it plans to demonstrate the kiosk at the J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference. The company raised $12.6 million in seed funding in July, bringing total financing to $18.6 million; its earlier system held roughly 250 to 280 medications, with broader commercial deployments expected in early 2027. For unattended retail operators, the announcement is another signal that automated hardware is moving into higher-stakes, regulated categories, where verification, audit trails and remote support separate viable products from experiments.
